Atmosphere seeps from every page, and you really feel like you too are exploring this house, like this house is closing around you, too. Of course, a novella is just words but Khaw's command of language in service of an image - their brilliance when it comes to wedding image with emotion - is sheer perfection here, with gorgeous turns of phrase that deepen our understanding of the characters and their responses to one another. If that sounds like something you might enjoy, then I would recommend reading this if you are looking for a good ghost story. I was not a huge fan of the characters and their relationship issues, though. Lots of eerie scenes and a setting that contributes to the overall inflection of the story.

Overall, Nothing But Blackened Teeth is a decent horror read. You wanna talk about goosebumps? That ending, though… There was too much focus on the history in the group, and I felt as though that pulled me out of my spooky mood too often.
